Samsung electronics has disclosed that BBM, the social network is now available for free download in its GALAXY smartphones across Africa from the Google play store.

With this development, Samsung users will join a vibrant community of 60 million BlackBerry smartphones customers who rely on BBM to stay in touch with friends, family and colleagues every day.
With this also, BBM for Android can be downloaded for free from the Google Play Store on 21st September 2013 and is compatible with GALAXY smartphone devices that run Android 4.0 and above. Data charges may apply, as determined by local operators and service providers.

ASUU Strike : FG Hasn’t Shown Commitment Towards Agreement

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has reiterated its stance that the federal government has not shown any commitment or seriousness towards the implementation of the 2009 agreement as a way of resolving the ongoing strike which commenced on June 30.

The union also said the government has not given Nigerians much reasons to celebrate the 53rd anniversary of the country as an independent nation, especially when considering the high rate of insecurity in the country.

The Chairman of ASUU (UniAbuja chapter), Dr. Clement Chup, while speaking with THISDAY in a telephone interview yesterday, lamented that President Goodluck Jonathan, in his presidential chat aired on Sunday night, chose to describe the ongoing strike as one that had taken on a political dimension.

Deadly hornets in China kill 42 people, injure over 1,500.

Hong Kong (CNN) -- Swarms of aggressive hornets, in their fall mating season, are inflicting a deadly toll in a central Chinese province.

Hornets have killed 42 people and injured 1,675 people in three cities in Shaanxi province since July, according to the local government. Thirty-seven patients remain in critical or serious condition.

Over the summer and early fall, hornets have invaded schools full of children and descended upon unsuspecting farm workers in China.

Plane crash:: killing about 20 crew member on board.

An Associated Airline plane carrying the remains of late Gov Agagu to Akure, crashed around Mafoluku area of Oshodi in Lagos this morning, Oct 3rd 2013.

Eyewitnesses say the crash happened at the local wing of the Murtala Mohammed airport, close to the section where JET-A1, plane fuel is stored. The aircraft is said to have crashed as it took off.

At the scene, fire service officials were seen evacuating the occupants of the plane and are yet to determine the extent of casualty.

iPad Mini With Retina Display!

Apple is rumored to be planning the rollout of new iPads in time for the holidays, and there are a couple of different models potentially in the pipeline, including an iPad mini with a high-resolution Retina display. That Retina mini may be in very short supply before the new year, however, according to a new report from Reuters.

Reuters cites sources working in Apple’s supply chain as providing info that suggests is just now ramping up production on a Retina iPad mini, leading to a strong likelihood that there will be relatively few available during the holiday shopping season. Apple still plans to unveil the device this month, according to those same sources.
