Another bomb explosion in Borno state, July1st

Another bomb exploded this morning at a busy market in Maiduguri, Borno state, July1st. 

Eye-witnesses said the bomb went off around 8am this morning at the busy market near a Power Holding building.

The number of casualty is expected to be high because of how crowded the area is.

A Borno state govt official confirmed the blast to Sahara Reporters, saying the causality number is very high but stated that security agencies are working to secure the area and rescue victims.

Another 60 girls reportedly kidnapped Borno state.

The Nigerian Television Authority report that sixty girls were kidnapped by insurgence in Kummabza village, in Damboa LGA in Borno state.

About sixty girls between the ages of 3-12 years have been abducted by insurgents in Kummabza village of Damboa local government area of Borno State. Reports from the area indicates that the insurgents also killed about thirty people and destroyed property worth millions of naira during an attack on the community, residents of the village are taking refuge in Lassa and Gulak in Adamawa State. They appealed to the authorities to provide them with shelter and relief materials to reduce their sufferings.

A boy died after a brave attempt to save a girl's life.

A 13 year old boy from Warrenstown ( Ricky Osagie ) died after a brave attempt to save a girl's life.

According to Irish Mirror, a friend of Ricky's, a teenage girl, got into the water and was almost drowning when Ricky and another female friend jumped into the pond to try to save her. The other teen girl who jumped in to help also now had difficulties in the pond, and it was up to Ricky to save both girls. Which he did. Paramedics were called and all three teens were taken to the hospital. The two girls survived, but Ricky died the next day.

Ibrahim Toure brother of footballers Yaya and Kolo Toure dies aged 28 {#Brazil2014}

The younger brother of Premier League and Ivory Coast footballers Yaya and Kolo Toure died on the June 19th in the UK.


Ibrahim Toure (pictured above), who was also a professional footballer, was just 28 years old. His cause of death has not been made known but he's said to have died just hours after Ivory Coast lost 2-1 to Colombia at the World Cup. May his soul rest in peace, amen. Post your Comments here!

Boko Haram senior member arrested by the Nigerian military.

Nigerian security forces discovered a senior member of the militant Islamist group Boko Haram among a convoy of nearly 500 travellers arrested this week in the southern state of Abia, a military spokesman said on Wednesday.

News of the arrest comes as militants are killing civilians almost daily, particularly in the largely Muslim north. At least 14 people were killed on Tuesday when a bomb tore through a venue in the northeast where fans had gathered to watch a World Cup match.
