As we come to the next phase in the quest for the Sexiest Woman and Man in Nollywood, it is pertinent to give the picture of how each star has fared so far. There are 20 men and 20 women still standing and ready to battle it out until the last man and woman standing.
However, popular opinion that held this week is that we should keep all the contesting stars still in the quest while do an exposé of how they truly stand. Despite the position of the committee that the number of votes of each contesting star should not be published, popular opinion that the voters should know where their stars stand, has won through for this week.

Nollywood divorces

If marriages are meant to be celebrated then what happens to divorces? In the last couple of weeks what has been pouring out of Nollywood are stories of divorce. If there are any marriages, they are not hot enough to make good news. Okay, there are enough movies making their rounds of the cinemas and maybe some endorsement deals are being pulled off but aren’t they a bit of backstage stuff to take the shine out of these divorces?
With recent divorce of Nollywood superstar actress, Funke Akindele, it is no longer news that most marriages involving top Nollywood actresses hit the rocks just as soon as the oaths were taken. Maybe Funke’s drama with husband of barely one year tops the list, given the glamour that accompanied the solemnisation  of their matrimony and the manner in which the separation was served to the public.
Everybody felt for Funke. At least the method employed by the husband, choosing the social media to break the news, even to his wife, got Funke a drove of sympathisers who were ready to take her husband apart. Maybe, that emboldened Funke because she has since shrugged it off and is already painting the town red as she was spotted last weekend, looking her smashing self at the Miss Global pageant .

Then Chika Ike steps into the mix. Although she has been separated from her husband, Tony Eberiri for close to two years but the glee with which she announced the divorce she got from an Abuja High Court on Monday set adrift once again another divorce saga which has an uncanny resemblance to that of Funke Akindele’s.

BBA latest: fans lash Beverly after sex with Angelo

Like a prophesy, Nigeria’s other representative in the on-going Big Brother reality TV show, Beverly Osu has succumbed to the yearnings of her flesh and had sex in the house with fellow house-mate and boyfriend Angelo Collins from South Africa.
The romp took place Friday night, under sleeping sheets which unfortunately couldn’t muffle their moans.

2015: 10 govs threaten to dump PDP

The governors, according to competent sources, have already communicated their decision to jump ship, to President Goodluck Jonathan, who is the leader of the PDP.
it remained unclear, however, at press time if the aggrieved governors were moving over to the newly-registered All Progressives Congress, APC, or working to float their own party with a view to presenting one of their colleagues as a presidential candidate in the next election.
But Vanguard gathered authoritatively that the five governors of Sokoto, Niger, Adamawa, Kano and Jigawa, were among those ready to dump the party. An impeccable source told Vanguard that the five governors communicated their threat to quit the party to President Jonathan when he summoned them for a peace parley last week.

SIN IS LIKE QUICKSAND

Scripture: Romans 2:23-3:23

In his book, Homesick for God, Joel Gregory described a horrible pit from which Tony Chain was rescued.

Tony and J. R. Hounchell went hunting the first day of duck season in 1981. They were in an area called Duck Flats, northeast of Anchorage, Alaska. Hours before, 10 feet of tidal water had covered the gully where they anchored their boat. As they made their way through the thick mud, Tony's left wader stuck fast. He struggled to free himself, but both feet became stuck. Every effort to free himself only caused him to sink deeper.

Tony's frantic call, "J. R., help me," startled his companion. Both men knew about Alaska's glacial silt-like quicksand. This quicksand, formed by grains as fine as talcum powder, looks like dark gray mud; but it is deadly. J. R. tried to pull Tony out with his belt, but J. R. felt the surface become spongy beneath him. If he got caught, both of them would drown. J. R. pulled loose and ran for help, knowing that time was against him. Alaskan tides are among the fastest and most dangerous in the world.

J. R. reached Elmendorf Air Force Base where a rescue team scrambled to help Tony. Numerous rescuers tried to help, but they, too, began to sink. Next, the rescuers passed a strap attached to a helicopter beneath Tony's arms. As the helicopter tried to hoist him up, the pain was so severe they had to stop for awhile. By 1:45 p.m. the mud was up to Tony's armpits. The tide could come in any minute. Finally, as the helicopter began to pull again, Tony felt a slight movement upward. Little by little, the waders slipped off his body and disappeared into the mud. He was pulled free just in the nick of time.

Just like quicksand, sin can have disastrous results. We find that sin is contagious, scandalous, repulsive and complete. Romans 3:23 tells us that "The wages of sin is still death."

Prayer.

Did Jesus Pray? How many time did Jesus pray?

“In the great events and crowning periods of His life, we find Jesus in prayer…. No man prayed as he prayed. Prayer was the secret of His power, the law of His life, the inspiration of His toil, and the source of His joy, His communion and strength. To Christ Jesus prayer occupied no secondary place, but was a necessity…. Jesus was always a busy man, but never too busy to pray. With Him even God’s work must not crowd out praying. Saving people from sin or suffering must not, even with Christ, be substituted for praying, nor abate in the least the time or the intensity of these holiest of seasons” (E.M. Bounds).

Yes, Jesus was pre-eminently the Man of Prayer, and the Pattern of Prayer. On many different occasions we read of the Lord praying, some of which are listed below. One cannot properly be called a follower of Jesus Christ who does not spend much time in prayer, for He is our Example, that we should follow His steps (1 Peter 2:21).

Occasions when Jesus prayed in public

1. At His baptism, “Jesus also being baptized and praying” (Luke 3:21).
2. At Capernaum, at the beginning of His ministry, “Rising up a great while before day” (Mark 1:35; Luke 5:16).
3. On the occasion of choosing the twelve apostles (Luke 6:12).
4. After the miracle of the loaves (Mark 6:46).
5. Before Peter’s confession of Him as the Christ (Luke 9:18).
6. On the mount of transfiguration (Luke 9:28,29).
7. When He taught His disciples to pray (Luke 11:1).
8. When He raised Lazarus from the dead (John 11:41,42).
9. The prayer in view of his sufferings (John 12:27,28).
10. The Lord’s prayer (John 17).
11. His intercessory prayer for Peter (Luke 22:32).
12. The prayer in Gethsemane before His sufferings (Luke 22:39-46).
13. His prayer for His murderers when nailed to the Cross (Luke 23:34).
14. At His death, giving up His Spirit to His Father (Luke 23:46).

::From the Pastor's Desk::Are You Angry With God?

Are you angry with God for some certain reasons? 
Do you know what the Bible says about you present condition?

Scripture: "And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them." (Romans 8:28).

Why do bad things happen to good people? Why is there so much injustice in the world?
Life Is Unfair
Sin in our world makes it difficult to understand the world as God wants it to be. Bad things happen to "good people," and "good people" sometimes let - or even make - bad things happen.

"Everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard" (Romans 3:23). It is so easy to want to sin. Why is life not easier? You might wonder, Why would God make a world where horrible things can happen? You might even be furious with Him. But injustice exists because of sin; God created people "for [His] glory" (Isaiah 43:10).

God Is Just
The Lord said, "I love justice" (Isaiah 61:8), but He hates sin. We cannot hope to understand Him nor our place in the world if we cannot understand that He is righteous, holy, and loving. Bad things happen; however "God does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants everyone to repent" (2 Peter 3:9). The Creator's "purpose was for the nations to seek after God" (Acts 17:27). After sin entered the world, He revealed part of His plan, teaching us to obey: "[The Law] was given alongside the promise to show people their sins" (Galatians 3:19). People could not be justified by the Law alone, but by faith: the Law "protected us until we could be made right with God through faith" (Galatians 3:24).

Trust in Him, Not the World
God sent us Jesus to restore the balance between justice and love. The unfair death of righteous Jesus Christ paid the penalty for the sins of us unrighteous people. "God will also count us as righteous if we believe in Him, the One Who raised Jesus our Lord from the dead" (Romans 4:24). That is why we trust in the Lord as our Saviour -- He paid the price; we accept that gift in faith. The world tells us that we should be angry with a Creator Who allows bad things to happen, but God gave everything (in the death of His Son, Jesus) to show us His love and justice.

SKIN CARE!:: how Honey, honey heal my skin

IF I hadn’t known Lizzy for many years, I would not have believed it was her I met at a function earlier this week.Lizzy used to be a petite, fair-skinned 25-year-old back in those days. She had a good heart, a good head and a good mind. But her good points were marred by a terrible skin condition.
To say Lizzy had ugly skin would be an understatement. Her skin was horrible! Her face was as bad to look at as it was to touch. Her arms, legs and torso were worse. Every millimeter of her skin was full of white patches and dark, scaly rings.
Lizzy wasn’t born like that, but an allergic reaction as a teenager had triggered the skin condition. She consulted the best dermatologists, tried everything old and new, all to no avail. The scaly skin persisted, earning her the nickname “Lizard” even among close friends.
So it was a pleasant surprise to be confronted, almost one decade later, by the same Lizzy, now displaying a radiant, satin-smooth skin in place of the “signature” lizard-skin of old. She was utterly dazzling in a pale yellow short-sleeved dress that set off her perfectly glowing skin.

How FEC jettisoned gay marriage — Turaki

The Minister of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs Alhaji Tanimu Turaki yesterday gave an insight into how the Federal Executive Council (FEC) rejected international pressure to legalise gay marriage in the country.
Turaki spoke on the controversial issue in Abuja yesterday while hosting staff and friends of his Ministry after breaking yesterday’s Ramadan fast.
The Minister who described Nigerians as a highly religious society said the FEC could not accommodate such an anti-religious practice in a country like Nigeria.
Said he, “When we discussed the issue of gay marriage at the Federal Executive Council, we all said that it was very unnatural. How can we explain this to Nigerians? That a man will go and marry a man and a woman will go and marry a fellow woman. Then we also discussed the aspect of the psychological and mental trauma that the children of such union, whether adopted or not, will have to go through.
“For example when they go to school and they are asked; who are your parents? And they have to answer that their mummy and daddy are both men or are both female. This does not fit into a highly religious society like ours”, Turaki said.
He further said: “There is nowhere in the world where God is worshipped like in Nigeria. Even traditional worshippers take their religion very seriously. We pray a lot and that is why God has not forsaken Nigeria.”
“We have been through situations that saw many countries torn into pieces but whatever happens to Nigeria, the nation would like an elephant, only shake its body and move on” he   added.
Turning to his staff in the Ministry, Turaki said, “We may be starting this journey now but I see this Ministry outliving all of us”.
He said he would try in all ways to give the Ministry a transparent and responsible leadership. Said he: “Sometimes, I may push you to achieve targets in the discharge of our duties. It is because I believe there is wisdom in our going that extra mile to discharge the mandate given to us not only by Mr. President but by all Nigerians. So, let us treat ourselves as members of the same family regardless of our positions.”
Responding on behalf of the staff of the Ministry, the Permanent Secretary, Mrs Winifred Oyo-Ita lauded the great humility displayed by the Minister in inviting the staff to break the fast with him and his family, saying such a gesture was not common among his peers. She pledged the support of the staff to the Minister in ensuring that the Ministry under his leadership becomes the envy of all other Ministries.
At the breaking of fast event was a former Deputy Governor of Borno State, Alhaji Ali Abubakar Jatau, Mr. Joe Kyari Gadzama, (SAN), among others who in their respective speeches described the Minister as hospitable, humble and highly intelligent.
