Footballer Dies After Falling From Hotel Balcony In Spain

6
A young footballer has been killed after falling more than 50ft from a balcony on holiday in Ibiza.
Grant Weston, 24, played for his home village team – and went with a large group of mates to the party island.
But he was killed in a fall from a balcony after a night out with his friends.
Grant was enjoying a holiday with more than a dozen friends from Pembroke, West Wales.
Police on the island are questioning his friends but his death is not being treated as suspicious.
Reports quoted Spanish police saying Grant may have forgotten his keys and tried to climb into his room at the Hotel Vedra in San Antonio..

Mark Powell, manager of the village team of Hundleton in Pembrokeshire, said: “He was a genuine lad.
“He had everything to live for and it’s so cruel that he has been taken away from us.
“He had a brilliant sense of humour and I have known him for the past eight years.
“It’s a shock, I feel for his family and he will be a great loss to our football club.”
Hundleton committee member Paul Jones said: “He was a lovely lad. Quiet but very likeable and he was an excellent footballer.
“We are devastated by this tragic event and he will be sadly missed. Our hearts reach out his family at this extremely sad time.”
Grant lived with his parents Kim, 58, and Sheila, 55, at Pembroke, Pembrokeshire. The couple have another son Robert, 22.
His parents were too upset to talk about the tragedy at their home.
Hundleton pulled out of a game with local rivals Pennar Robins tonight in a local tournament.
A Foreign Office spokesman said: “We can confirm the death of a British national, Grant Weston, in Ibiza on August 14th.
“We are providing consular assistance to the family at this difficult time.”
News of the death came less than a week after aspiring model and musician Thomas Ousby, 19, from Uxbridge, west London, fell to his death from the ninth floor of a hotel in Magaluf on neighbouring Majorca.
